Raising East Tower - November 10, 2013

There are two of these towers 150 feet wide and approximately 66 feet high when raised.
A steel cable that spans from tower to tower can be lowered and raised. Also this cable can be electrically heated to free it from the ice that forms in this cable.

The Big Crash

March 27, 3:38am - The ice sculpture came tumbling down. It woke my neighbors on both side of my property. One thought we were having an earthquake.

Robotic Targeting System

The magic of this process is to get the water to go exactly where I want and how much water to apply there. In spite of nature's own ideas.

This robotic spray system consists of two antenna rotators modified with high resolution encoders. These rotators have a 1/4 degree repeatable accuracy.

A weather station on top of this tower allows this robot to compensate for wind direction and speed.

Periodic Tower Maintenance

The robotic spray tower is lowered by an electric winch and cable assembly and mounts into a cradle.

This is necessary to allow me to clean the light fixtures and do maintenance on the robot or spray nozzle. I do this at least once a week sometimes more if I have problems.

Outside Control Center

This is the control center that contains the backup power supply, computer, servo controllers, analog / digital interface devices and electronic switches. Also mechanical tanks, pumps, valves, filters and shock arrestor.

Much of the Infrastructure resides elsewhere such as backup generator, blowout devices and power supplies.

A great deal has gone into duplication and precautionary systems as this system can't afford to be down or freeze up.

Auto Track

"Auto Track" is a software application that I have developed to operate the robot. This app can be controlled over the internet via iPad, iPhone or Windows OS.

Nozzle Development

Sept 21 2011 - Research and development for optimal nozzle stream technology.

This Still motion image of the stream shows the tumbling effect due to harmonics in the line. This image was about five feet from the nozzle.

Venture Interest

I am currently seeking interest in sponsoring/hosting my next Ice Sculpture Project.  In keeping with my goals, at this point I need a larger “canvas”.  I have gained knowledge of techniques to make these sculptures even greater but I need more room and financial help to do so.

I have been in contact with the Guinness people and I am confident that I can achieve a “Guinness World Record”.  Although I have already beaten the current world record "currently" held by China GWR, My projects have never been recognized by or submitted.  I would like to share the relevant recognition as having a "Guinness World Record for the Tallest Ice Sculpture in the World".
